Elisa Stoyle presented the award to Mark Schmidt for January 2017 Employee of the Month! Mark was nominated by one of his team members, Lisa Stitzlein. I Lisa Stitzlein nominate Mark Schmidt as Employee of the Month because no matter how hard the work load, Mark always stops what he is doing to assist the patient, their family and the nurse with their needs. He is a strong team player and always puts the patients and families first!

LifeCare Hospice, your local, not-for-profit hospice, is very fortunate to have two very skilled and compassionate physicians on our team. They are Senior Medical Director, Dr. David Lance, DO and Dr. Jodi Hannan, MD. Dr. David Lance has been a part of this team of care for over 25 years. He began as a volunteer and has been our full-time senior medical director since 2005. Dr. Hannan has been a part of our team since 2010. Both of these fine doctors have dedicated themselves to the comfort and quality of life of our neighbors and friends in the last months of life.

Kid's Grief Camp
We recently completed another amazing week of kid’s grief camp. The group was represented by parent and sibling loss. The kiddos were open as we discussed such concerns as sudden vs anticipated death and when the surviving parent starts dating, normal grief reactions, and much more. We concluded the week with a balloon release and a puppet show written and performed by the attendees.
A special thanks to our music and pet therapy volunteers.

Here's a link to the "Caring for Mom & Dad" website. The show will be rebroadcast on Mother's Day, May 10 and Father's Day, June 21.)

We proudly welcomed our first patient to the new Stanley C. and Flo K. Gault Inpatient Unit (IPU) in mid-March. We are thrilled to be caring for patients and their families in this warm and home-like setting.
While patients and their families are with us, they'll receive not only physical care, but emotional and spiritual support as well. Our team of volunteers are ready to handle tasks such as picking up drugs at a pharmacy before a patient is discharged or simply to sit by the bedside and provide companionship. This holistic approach to care is unique to the hospice experience and is the everyday standard of care in our unit.
Families are welcome to visit at any time, day or night; fold-...
